The Last Stand, chapter 3
Mark’s POV*WARNING* this chapter will contain slight language for points of emphasis. If it really bothers you, then replace the words with some more mild ones while you read. ( i.e. butt, dang, heck, and shoot )
“Who in the hell is in charge of the advertisement department? WHO? Who in they’re right mind would design that stupid sign? Damn it! Stacy get in here,” Mark yelled as he through a stack of paperwork across his office.
“Y…yes sir?” Stacy stammered as she timidly walked into the room. Mark’s temper was a well know phenomenon in the office, and she hated being on the receiving end of it. She waited as patiently as possible for Mark to gather his thoughts before the yelling started again.
“Clear the rest of my schedule for the day, I need to go see this billboard and call Bob to have it taken down before the end of the day,” Mark said, in a slightly less edgy voice than before. The lack of anger surprised Stacy; knowing she wasn’t the person to blame for his anger, she practically skipped from the office to her small cubicle to clear Mr. Hansen’s schedule.
30 minutes later…
“Do you see the problem, Bob?” Mark said as he pointed up to the new adoption billboard on the side of the freeway. “It needs to be taken down, immediately, before it screws up the rest of this month’s spreadsheet. I already have the fix numbers from last week and now this week. That’s an extra two months of work for me, Bob. Do you see the problem? Which one of your dumb ass employees screwed up the new freaking proposal?”
“You know I can’t tell you that Mark. It wasn’t in the contract to give you names, you know that. I’ll have my boys up here tomorrow to fix the problem.” Bob sighed.
“No! That isn’t good enough. I don’t want this shit of a billboard up here one more minute. Either you get your damn “boys” over here now, or your contract is up, this second. No pay outs. If you don’t keep up your side of the deal, then I’m not keeping up mine.” Mark barked out. He was fed up with this shit. No one ever did things right anymore.
Mark ran his hand through his hair in exasperation and looked around, waiting for Bob’s reply. A red mini van on the freeway caught his attention. Why was it slowing down? It was holding up traffic! “ What a dumb ass,” Mark grumbled.
He looked closer at the driver… Rachel?
